I've been working on this Zodiac project for what seems like forever and I'm determined to get the series finished and made in to a calendar in time for christmas. I was up late last night working on Aries and will start Virgo tonight. It's nice to be motivated again and to have a deadline in place. Wish me luck!

Here's the progress of the illustrations for the 2nd Hippies in the City book. Love, love working on this project. It's nice to swap my fine liner pens for the softness of water colours and pencils.
Just came across another amazing range of jewellery on Etsy. This store is called Boo and Boo Factory and they stock a range of unique handmade leather jewellery. The pieces are made from hand cut leather. I kind of want everything in their shop but I think these three are my favorites!
www.etsy.com.au/shop/BooandBooFactory I am head over heals in love with this Jewellery range. I just stumbled arcross their shop on Etsy and was instantly inspired. Here's a write up from their website:
"Influenced by a background in Theological studies, ancient tribal religious symbols and motifs made from raw natural materials are processed using contemporary technology or combined with rare vintage findings to produce one-of-a-kind pieces. Aztec-like geometric motifs, primitive unprocessed mineral stones, raw brass and living, breathing materials like feathers and corals make the stage of a mysterious ceremonial universe, both ancient and at the same time strangely futuristic." Yesterday I wanted to sit in pretty gardens drinking tea, now I want to adorn myself with medieval armour jewellery and sit by a fire in a castle ruin - might have to watch an episode of Game of Thrones to get my medieval fix! Check out their amazing website: www.sanktoleono.com Last night I watched another Shakespeare film, turns out I'm really in to them! This one was "As you like it" again directed by Kenneth Branagh. Most of the film takes place in the forest with beautiful costumes and made me long for a day in the English countryside where I can wear a pretty dress, sit in stunning gardens and of course drink tea! Inspired by all things pretty and garden like I made this mood board. Hope you enjoy!
It's so cold in Melbourne at the moment and it's supposed to be Spring....humph! The plus side is getting to wear cute winter fashion again :)
I was walking past a jewellery shop a few weeks ago and something caught my eye, as it often does with jewellery! This beautiful white gold ring with a lilac stone. I'd never seen a lilac gemstone before and as I am a bit in love with all things lilac at the moment, I had to enquire about it. Turns out it's a gemstone called Tanzanite, how did I not know about this!?! There you go, my new dream ring would be a platinum band with a delicate Tanzanite stone and some small diamonds thrown in, it used to be a black diamond but Tanzanite you have stolen my heart :)
To celebrate my love for all things lilac I had fun making this inspiration mood board. Happy Monday everyone :) It seems that the whole world is blogging apart from me so I figured it would be rude not to. Up until now I have still been doing the old school paper and pen scrapbooking, cutting out inspiring images from my favourite magazines (company UK, Peppermint, Frankie, Australian Yoga Journal) gluing them in and then doodling around the pages. But in a world of Pinterest, Instagram and Flickr I'm feeling like a bit of a dinosaur and so the time has come to start blogging.
I'm not sure if anyone will even read my blog, but there's something so theraputic about writing and documenting things with the view of sharing them with others I can really see why people are so in to it! I'm also about to start illustrating the 2nd Hippies in the City book and thought at blog would be a lovely way to document the process and progress of this exciting new project. Very much enjoyed painting this peaceful hippy chick and listening to Norah Jones. It's so nice to be working on the second book. If you haven't read the first Hippies in the City yet then get a wriggle on :) http://www.hippiesinthecity.com/ |
